After publishing “Sempiternus,” I’ve found that once again I have the urge to write. Only this time, I’m sticking much closer to home. No sweeping, epic 23,000 year journey. No immortals. No greedy billionaires attempting to wrest secrets from my protagonist. No historical settings. And no 500-year-long love affair.
“Meadow” is a simple coming-of-age story with a classic Ugly Duckling metamorphosis. Angsty, emotional, with a touch of the erotic, “Meadow” tells the tale of two teens growing up in the 1970’s – coincidentally, the same period that I myself was a teen. I’m drawing heavily on my own life experience from that time, with, of course, many fictional elements mixed in, and many of my characters were inspired by people that I knew during that time. I hope to truly capture the essence of life for high school seniors in 1975, the loneliness and frustrations of being a “geek,” and the rewards as well as the pitfalls of sudden popularity.
I’m finding “Meadow” an amazingly easy story to write, and, with luck, I will be able to publish by the end of 2020. So, here’s hoping that 2021 finds my new original work available for your reading pleasure!
